Design Tech Lab
The Design Tech Lab at Sarvodaya School is a digital fabrication lab where students can invent, design and tinker. Resources and support give the chance to design their dreams, whether it be a poster, a keychain or a life-saving robot. The Design Tech lab houses a 3D printer, a laser cutter, robotics equipment, a variety of hand tools and lots of materials for students to explore and use during the design thinking process. Projects in the lab are purposefully engaging and meaningful, leading students to a point of realized ideas. Both academic and co-curricular life at sarvodaya are impacted by Design Technology. Middle and Senior School teachers integrate design-focussed "hand's on" projects into their classrooms. The classroom work is about developing spatial skills, learning from mistakes and making revisions, solving practical problems and becoming flexible thinkers. Outside of the classroom the DT Lab is used by FIRST Lego League and VEX Robotics teams and offers a safe and creative environment for students to develop independent projects such as "Maker Time".
